A dress for Ma

Holy cow!!!!!!!!!! Another thing that was easier then I thought it would be! Mom was wigging out about what she was going to wear... after sending pictures back and fourth for a few weeks... of course one of the first dresses she brings home is the BIG WINNER!!! We went to this place close to my home town called Stars to check out some MOB dresses... they were all negatives...but the one she finally did pick (which is the one she had already bought) was FABULOUSSSS!!!! Yes so it's Navy Blue with a collar and it's two pieces. The top is a wrap and sort of looks like a jacket but zipps up the back and the bottom is a long almost trumpet skirt. It's EXTREMELY flattering and slimming. Very classy and not at all Mother of the Bride-y which in my mind was "dowdy" GOOD JOB MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS the shoes are also to DIE for. I will upload pics when I have them. You'll DIE!

Dashed Dreams...

Sooo I swear I had some BRILLIANT ideas that I wanted to incorp to this wedding... here are a few that were turned down by the venue...

Badmitton... Ummm who wouldn't love to play badmitton at a wedding. There is a HUGE yard!

Bocce Ball... samsies...

Rollerskating... I wanted desperatly to have our bridal party skate their way into the hearts of our guests after the ceremony. Maybe do a little move or two on some old school wheels... but noooo. Come ON. That would rule.

This was my Father's idea but I turned it down... although he may not listen to me... he wanted to have the father daughter dance to "Eric the Half A Bee" from Monty Python. Little does he know we'll be starting off to Hippopotamus Rock... Shhhh....

**for those of you painfully unaware of Hippopotamus rock, it's a childhood fave of mine. I suggest checking it out on itunes. It's got a pretty deep msg...

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve I think will write about those next!!!!

Tux Time. Break. IT. DOwwwn

So, you'd think all Tux places would be up to date with their tie selections. Not so my friend. A note to my mother if she reads this, please go with Dad and make sure he doesn't pick a tie from... like... circa 1983. I swear that's all these places had and that is why we have to buy all of the ties. Which is okay because that will be part of the groomsmen gifts. They are lovely ties! Will upload pic of those once we get them in. D-squared looked dashing in his tux. We went of course for the flat front tux pants and he looked like a less tall but more buff James Bond with over sized wrists. (Inside joke, it's not mean - it's just that my family thinks that Dave's wrists are a little on the meaty side...)It's much better then what they used to call him which was "nipple boy".... if you'd like to hear that story I would be happy to tell it. Just let me know.

But anyway I'm contemplating making the ring man, russell wear lederhosen...thoughts?

The Butterfly Effect - American Indian Legends

According to an American Indian Legend:

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.
Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all.In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish. So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted.

BUTTERFLIES ARE ORDERED!! YES!

Sooo Davey D and I figured it would be radical to do a butterfly release at the end of our ceremony to honor our lost loved ones and because of the Native American Legend! My mom always used to tell me when we would see a butterfly that it was her Father and Dave's fam. was the same way so we figured it would be a cool thing to do. I ordered a few dozen, mostly for the Bridal Party and Family. It would have gotten too expensive go give everyone a butterfly to release. It should make for some beautiful pics! I have a sneeking suspicion someone is going to swat one... will it be you???

Feelings: Creative and satisfied with myself.

Rehearsal Dinner Venue: FOUND

Mission over!!! Another one bites the dust, baby! We searched for the perfect place to have our pre-wedding gathering which, really, isn't a rehearsal at all seeing as we can't rehearse at SCC... for some reason or another. Anyway - Dave's parents are generously having the dinner in our honor at Max Fish in Glastonbury, CT! Don't worry though, for those of you who are not into sea food there are many other choices. It's going to be in the outside room and it's going to be SOOOOO awesome!

I would join the NRA if scan guns applied!!!

Registration for gifts... it's like a double edged sword... it's terrible fun to scan the cr@p out of things but it's so hard to pick stuff! Really I'd just like to take it all... I literally registered at like 5 places and then had to have a long talk with myself about how I had a bit of a "problem" anyway they were narrowed down to the following:

Crate and Barrel
Bed Bath and Beyond
Sur le Table
Bloomingdales
Pottery Barn

Each registry is on-line for easy access.

I downloaded a scan gun to my cell phone... sooo yeah...

Dresses for My Lovies!!

Bridesmaids' dresses were really hard. I had like a million ideas and then none of them really panned out the way I had wanted them to. Originally I wanted J.crew. It was literally J.Crew or Bust. I didn't look at any others but then they just weren't working right... sooo we went to Priscilla of Boston...they weren't very nice there nor were they very helpful so we took our biznass elsewhere. Our final stop was a Bridal shop in New Jersey where we found THESE!!!!!!!

Nah, just kidding... these...

Okay the thing about this pic is that it isn't very flattering. For one this girl looks like Danielle from Housewives of NJ and her breasts are too bulbus for me... and it looked twelve million times better on my ladies. That bow is also not hanging like a limp noodle there... it will be in the back.

As for my little Mag-pie. She'll be wearing the following:
